Treasures!

I am so ashamed. It has been quite a while since I posted anything. I have hit 3 auctions, a few yard sales, and a flea market since my last post, and have had too many things to put away and take care of! Here are just a few of the items I have gotten. Got this wonderful set of glasses for $3.00!!! Love this spooky looking postcard. Fun, huh?
Here are some more fun things for art.
I got this key hole and broken watch for art. The charms on the watch are great, aren't they? The material it is laying on is part of a HUGE black and tan tassle I found at the flea market.

Stereotype pics. I love the one of the couple kissin in the punkin patch!
The buy of the whole month(maybe even year)! This guy said he would give me any of the old papers for a dollar each or $17.00 for the whole box!!! There are WAY more than 17 papers in this! I made out like a bandit! There are antique calling cards, advertising cards, books, postcards, cut-outs, everything! All 1922 or earlier! Woo-Hoo!
Now for a taste of Halloween. I got this platter and these stickers(plus several more) from Dollar Tree! Love it!
I don't have much up for Halloween yet. I know, I'm behind. I do have this little vignette, though. The glittery pumpkin is from a Halloween swap I was in. My partner Heidi sent it to me. I will be posting pics. of all the stuff I got on Oct. 8th. BTW, Happy October! TTFN!

My Fun Finds

Here are some of my favorite things I got last weekend at that huge auction we went to. There were hundreds of box lots(my favorite) and most of what I got was in those. This is a light blue wall pocket. There is two of them.
This is a crate FULL of old newspapers and such from the 1800's. They have great pictures to use in art and stuff.
Aren't these so pretty?!
I love Peter Rabbit! These are so adorable!
This pic was supposed to be the last one, but I still haven't completely got the hang of posting on my blog. Anyway, this is the creme de la creme!!!! Isn't it just gorgeous? It is almost 7 feet tall and about 4-5 feet wide! We had to take some of it apart to fit it in the trailer, so you might see some parts missing in the pic. Eventually it will go in the ice cream parlor Mitch and I want to start. You can't see all of it because we have it slid behind the couch for safe keeping. I might as well say right now to please excuse all the stuff you see in the background of the pictures!

This is another favorite. The seat on it needs to be reupholstered, but for now I just put a tablecloth over it so it looks better. I also got the pretty basket that is sitting on the bench.
This darling doll was in the bottom of a box wrapped in paper!! I collect old dolls like this, so it was a great surprise. She is in wonderful shape, too.
This basket is Chloe's new toy box.
There were two rings running all day, so Mitch and I were split up and he got this old map that was hanging in the old school house. It actually has several maps that unfold from it. It is very old and has great color to it. He only paid $10.00 for it!
Last but not least I got this cute umbrella stand. We also stopped at a couple of yard sales and I got 2 Stampin Up stamp sets and a Stampin Up pastel set for a song! I also got a brand new Pampered Chef cookbook for 50 cents! It was the weekend of deals! I got lots more stuff from the auction; stuff to use in my art, a neat vintage ice cream cone dispenser, an old display case, etc. Needless to say I had lots of fun. We had never gone so far from home to go to an auction, and it will probably be a long time before we do again. It was fun to see new places and make a couple days of it. Our jewelry party went good last night. I have my eye on a few earrings and necklaces! TTFN!

I'm Back!!

I am finally back! This last week was crazy busy; I had my yard sale over the weekend. It takes so much time and preparation. I haven't been on here in a whole week! I just read my favorite girls blogs and I feel like I missed out on so much! Well, the highlight of the weekend was that Mitch and I went about 3 hours south to a gigantic auction. We left the night before. We have never done anything like that before, but this auction had a bunch of stuff to start a business with, so we decided to check it out. It was also an estate auction. I made out like a bandit!!!! We could hardly fit everything! I will post pics. tomorrow. We went to the park today for a cookout; that is always nice. I am so relieved that my yard sale is over! Now I can totally focus on my swap projects and have some fun! TTFN!

Auction Stuff, Ducklings, and Stuff

Well, the auction yesterday was a bust! Stuff was going WAY to high for my taste, but I did manage to get a couple of cool things! This old brass mirror was my splurge-$12.50! I know, if that is a splurge I MUST be INCREDIBLY cheap! Well, I am. But anyway, isn't it gorgeous!!!! I was so excited!
I also got this great vintage globe from the 60's. It lights up and has an atlas in the compartment. It only set me back $2.00. That was basically it that I got from the auction. Mitch made out better than I did, which is very strange.
We stopped at the Habitat for Humanity Restore after the auction and I found this great brass cherub for $1.49! I love it!!
This lovely piece I found at a yard sale today. I am crazy over old plates with flowers on them. I have them all over the house.
Last, but not least, I made a strawberry rhubarb pie today! My mom got some rhubarb from a friend and gave some to me. I am so excited to have some!
I almost ran over a duckling this morning! He was in the middle of the road and I, being the total animal lover I am, swerved all over the road to avoid hitting the poor little guy! You will all be happy to know he made it across in one piece! TTFN!

My Crazy Weekend

This is going to be long post, so sit and relax. My weekend was very long and very busy. So, it started out on Friday, we were going on our first yard sale outing of the season, and this pic above is the sky at 8:00 in the morning. Lovely, huh? It had been gorgeous for at least a week and a half and of course the morning I was so pumped about getting out and having fun it rained SOOOOO BAD! Lightning crashing, thunder booming. By mid morning though it had stopped.I just had to include a pic of this adorable camper we seen while we were waiting for the light to change. It isn't a very good picture, but it says "Mystery Machine" on the side and was absolutely a hoot! Completely custom painted! I have been learning that now that I am blogging I better never leave the house without a camera!

Well, because of the rain and all the yard sales starting a day before we went there wasn't a great abundance of deals, but I did manage to find a few things. My favorite sale was a little older womans. She had everything divided up and put in baggies and boxes. It was like a wonderful treasure hunt! She had tons of lace, ribbon, old crayons, everything! Above is a pic of the great lace and ribbons I got for $1.25! Most of it is vintage and what isn't is still nice.

At the same sale I got loads and loads of old seam binding and ribbon for extremely cheap! As you can see there are some great colors. I also got some old rick-rack, trim, beads, and old Crayola crayons. I even got a dozen fresh eggs from her chickens! Bonus!

Well, now we are to Saturday. Ethan had to help sell cookies and brownies and stuff at an auction, so we all went and thought we would make a day of it. Except it was very, very cold! After the rain the day before it got up to 82 degrees! Well, when we woke up the next morning, it was struggling to get to 40! We ended up not staying for the whole thing, which is REALLY hard for us, but I just couldn't get warm. Anyway, here are Ethan and Malachi hamming it up for me in the pic above.
Here is my right hand man doing one of the things he does best! Having to box up all the junk his mom buys! It is definitely not one of his favorite jobs, but it sure does help me out a lot!
Dyl and his friend Chris just hanging out.
Here's Dylan after I caught him snooping through a box of toys.
Here is Ethan and his friend and fellow scout David doing what they came to do. I guess by the end of the day the scouts made a good profit. I got a few things at the auction, but not much. I tried to get a pic of my hubby, but he runs from me when I have the camera! After the auction our niece Brenda came over and spent the night and went to church with us. So that brings us to Sunday. We went to church and got invited to stay for lasagna and games with the youth. What a blast! Of course, this was one of the times I forgot my camera!
And yesterday we had my brothers birthday pizza and cake. Never a dull moment around here! I've been tagged by a fellow blogger(Thanks, Tangee:), so later I need to post my tag info. TTFN!
